The Mixed System

The PEXATHERM UFH for solid ground floor or in the new extension.
The PEXAPIPE radiator system for upstairs or in the or the orginal building.

Heating Systems

First floor or existing building
Radiators on the first floor connected with PEX 14 in conduit pipe to the radiator manifold and threaded through the joists.
Both manifolds are then connected to the boiler using PEX 25 in conduit pipe. The underfloor manifold is connected via its mixer and pump. See primary connections.

Ground floor or new extension
Pexatherm underfloor heating Pipe-in-Rail or Pipe-in-staple or Pipe-in-Board on the solid ground floor. Typical construction consisting of PEX pipe in 75 mm screed over insulation 50, 70, or 100 mm floor grade insulation over 100 - 150 mm concrete slab over vapour barrier and hardcore. See floor cross-sections.

Controls

Wiring the mixed system: Green thermostats input to MZ 0 from upstairs, downstairs master programmable thermostat and 2 room thermostats. Pink output from MZ 0 to boiler, valves and UFH pump.

It easy to control the temperature and time in a mixed system when using one of the Multizoner wiring centres. For example, Multizoner 0 will control the ground floor Pexatherm underfloor heating using a master programmable thermostat. While another programmable thermostat is used to control the radiator first floor. Both thermostats are wired through the MZ 0 which in turn controls the boiler, the two motorised valves and the underfloor heating pump at the UFH manifold.

Control package of 2 prog., 1 room thermostats, MZ 0 and 2-port motorised valve.
See Multizoner wiring centres and thermostats.
