The PEXATHERM Pipe-in-Plate UFH systems is for timber floors - Suspended or Floated
Introduction The Pipe-in-Plate system is used for floating and suspended timber floor. The aluminium plate diffuses the heat from the PEX pipe to the floor. The plate ensures maximum heat transfer from the pipe to the floorboards. IPPEC's ML pipe (Multilayer PEX Alu PEX) is often used with the plates. This reduces the expansion and contraction movement that could occur during heating up and cooling down cycle between the pipe and the plate. The ensuing frictional noise is reduced or even eliminated.
	System Design The Pexatherm diffusion plates are laid suspended between joists or battens and resting on floor insulation. The PEX heating pipe is then clipped into the plate grooves. Single or multi-groove plates are supplied dependant on the design requirements. The pipe is then connected to the manifold. Just as in the other Pexatherm systems. Low water temperature mixer is required. IPPEC supplies low temperature valve that connects to the radiator or towel rail and then to the flow of the underfloor heating pipe. This system is often used in the bathroom to give warm floor at low cost.
The Package The aluminium diffusion plates measure 1200 x 400 x 0.5 mm and can be supplied with single, twin or triple grooves. All other components are the same as pipe in rail, except PEX-Alu-PEX multi-layer pipe can be specified. Pexatherm black radiant plates as well as Pexatherm plates insulation are offered as an option.

Examples The Pexatherm pipe in plate system is used in suspended timber floor such as on first floors, in bathrooms and extensions. The system can be used in floated floor where the pipe in the plate is rested on insulation which in turn is laid on concrete floor. The Pexatherm pipe in plate is used in sports hall with sprung floors.
