PEXATHERM UFH Systems – Floor Construction

The PEXATHERM UFH with solid floors.
There are several Pexatherm underfloor heating systems to choose from.

Typical Floor Construction	Floor Covering
Typical floor construction consisting of PEX pipe 75 mm screed over Multiboard insulation 50-70-100 mm floor grade insulation with reflective foil over 100 - 150 mm concrete slab over vapour barrier and hardcore. The Staples for Pipe Fixing IPPEC supplies a new hand push staples in bags of 500 for the one off installation or can hire or sell a stapler tool with special staples in boxes of 300.	Tiles, stone, PVC, carpet or wood covering laid directly on heated screed. Carpet Total resistivity is 1.5 togs or 0.15 W/mK. Carpets emitt the heat because of the large surface of fibres. Wood A thin layer 2-3 mm PE foam is used in case of wood or parket or laminate. No need for battens. Tiles Use flexible adhesive for ceramic tiles mortar weaker than screed for stone or quarry tiles.
Pipe-in-Rail or Pipe-in Staple in Suspended Concrete Floors	Other Ground Construction
	Pipe-in-Rail in drives for frost and snow melting. Also in precinct and sports ground as well as in soil for plant growth. Insulation is not required in these cases.

Insulation

Insulation is an essential part of an underfloor heating system

Floor Insulation
IPPEC supplies floor insulation in several thickness and different material to suit the ground floor area your project, as well as edge (perimeter) insulation strip for the above Pexatherm UFH systems.

Bare polystyrene (PE) boards in 30, 50, 70 and 100 mm in metre square can be supplied with Pipe-in-Rail and Pipe-in-Board system.
Multiboard floor insulation with laminate foil is supplied with the Pipe-in-Staple system and in several thickness (30, 50, 70, and 100mm)
Polyurethane (PU) type insulation is also available in 2.4 x 1.2m in 17 and 50 mm thick with reflective paper.
A new special Multiboard using heavy gauge heat spreading alumium foil. Can be supplied with PE or PU insulation.
A new grooved PU insulation board 45 mm thick to fit under alumium plates.

Edge Insulation
supplied as standard with all the Pexatherm UFH solid floors systems. The edge strip improves response time and allows for thermal movements in the floor. The 25 m long strip are 140 mm wide and 8 mm thick. An attached PE strip provides a vapour barrier around the edges of the floor.
