Frequently Asked Questions
PEXAPIPE Plastic Plumbing.
What do you mean by 'advanced
plastic plumbing'?
Using a Pexapipe flexible plastic pipe from the reel without hidden joints in
floor or wall is the essence of advanced plastic plumbing. To achieve this we
must avoid rigid pipes and using 'Tee' connections in the pipe. Distribution
manifolds are an alternative to 'Tees'. All the joints are at the manifold or
the outlet which are all easily accessible. The joint-free pipe can be sleeved
when laid in the floor to become a self-ducted pipe. This avoids the construction
of expensive ducts when using rigid or flexible jointed pipes. See PEXAPIPE
benefits.
Will you use more pipe
than normal when plumbing through manifolds?
You might use a bit more pipe but you will use far less joints and installations
becomes fast and easy. The net result will save you money on material and labour
and avoid inaccessible leaks in the future.
Is advanced plumbing
expensive?
PEXAPIPE is not expensive. Plumbers using plastic pipes do the job quicker
allowing them to complete more jobs per year and earn more money. The speed
and simplicity of advanced plumbing avoids leaks and other problems reducing
call back costs.
What is a coupler?
All straight connection fittings from PEX pipe to manifold, male or female
thread or to another PEX or copper pipe are called couplers. they are availble
for all the PEX pipe sizes we supply.
Where do yo use PEXAPIPE
isolating chrome plated angle valves?
Under basins and WC cisterns. They are then connected to taps with 10 mm
chrome plated copper pipe and 1/2" tap connector. Some European taps have
10 mm copper tales.
How do you isolate washing
machines, dishwashers and outside tap?
By using either manifold
with isolating outlets (we supply these as standard for kitchen and utility
in our packages) or mini 1/2" ball valves available in our range.
How do you connect an
outside tap?
We supply an elbow PEX to 1/2" male or female to which a 1/2" outside
tap can be connected.
Does Pexapipe pipes eliminate
water hammer noise and other expansion noises?
Yes.
Which fittings I
need for the shoer connection taps?
The wall plate
elbow is the general fitting used for all end connections. However we supply
PEX 16 coupler to copper 15 mm or to 1/2" male or female. Please specify
with your order.

2-PEXAPIPE Radiators and Towel Rails
Can I
use any radiator or towel rails with PEXAPIPE radiator connection system?
Yes
you can. Ippec supplies PEX fittings to fit radiator valves with male or female
1/2" BSP thread or with 15 mm copper.
Where
do I connect my towel rails with the PEXAPIPE system to keep them warm all year
round?
We do not recommend connecting towel rails to the secondary domestic hot water
circuit. This is because they will continuously cool the cylinder and will be
exposed to the possibility of heavy corrosion as the water is continuously replaced
with oxygen-rich hot water.
Instead they could be connected to the primary heating circuit directly from
the boiler. This way they are warmed whenever the boiler is on. Alternatively
they can be connected to an extra port on the underfloor heating manifold. This
way they run at low temperature as they should by regulation. In summer the
rest of the UFH circuits are switched off while the towel rail circuit are kept
on to be warm all year round.
Is their another way
of connecting towel rail heating circuit?
Yes.
IPPEC
has a solution with the Multizoner I, where a dedicated heating circuit with
its timer could be used for the towel rails. TRV's could still be used on the
towel rails to control their temperature and that of the bathroom. IPPEC supplies
Towel rails and TRV's from stock.
