Something amazing is happening on the banks of the Clyde. The new £75 m Glasgow Science Centre is the largest Millennium project of its kind and Scotland's newest visitor attraction. The groundbreaking new venue is made of a shunning complex of the Science Mall and Scotland's first IMAX cinema theatre.
IPPEC is proud to contribute to this world class project by providing its Pexatherm underfloor heating as shown at the construction and installation stage. The Pexatherm warm water system of radiant heat provide comfort in the high ceiling glazed areas without excessive use of energy.
The views of this magnificent complex are stunning from the river side or at the entrance. You can rely on Pexatherm for performance and reliability in any of your commercial project. The system can be as simple as you want it and connected to your building management control or as sophisticated as you like with IPPEC's Alpha or Gamma's weather compensation control and Q-Heat pre-assembled boiler rooms.

Comfort and safety paramount in residential homes.
Mark Bales, the owner of Burcot Nursing Home wanted the best for his residents. The safety and comfort of underfloor heating appealed to him, as well as copious amounts of hot water for the kitchen and for the residents and without wasting fuel. The boilers and cylinders of the existing home could be described as archaic and very heavy on fuel. The new wing used Pexatherm underfloor heating on both floors, supplied by a Viessmann boiler which also heated the 300 litre unvented cylinder on a hot water priority basis. The Pexapipe ring system was used for instant hot water in the faraway kitchen and for all the bathrooms. The owners of the home are enjoying unprecedented energy saving while the residents are basking in the warmth of underfloor heating and experiencing the convenience of modern plumbing.

UK Car Showrooms enjoy the same benefits of Pexatherm underfloor heating as their counterparts in Germany
This all-new Landrover showroom is heated by Pexatherm underfloor heating, whilst the offices on the first floor use Pexapipe radiator connection system. A Viessmann condensing boiler with weather compensation powered the whole system, and Pexapipe plumbing supplied the hot and cold water to the washrooms. The huge glazed area meant that weather compensation was essential to modulate the output according to the outside temperature whilst individual room thermostats controlled the solar gains by limiting any rise of temperature in any part of the showroom.

Local government chooses IPPEC systems for state of the art home for handicapped children
When a health authority wanted to build an exemplary home for handicapped children, only IPPEC was able to provide a complete energy efficient heating and plumbing system to meet their exacting requirements. The Pexatherm underfloor heating, well known to the consulting engineers, was their first choice. However, it was also important that any plumbing for hot and cold water should use materials produced in an environmentally friendly way as well as being energy efficient.
IPPEC was able to meet their requirement, based on the VENOB report by the Technical University of Berlin. This shows that the energy requirement for producing PEX pipe is a fraction of that for producing metal pipes.See ECO-Issues.
PEX pipes in several diameters were used to supply water from boilers and mains pressure cylinders to hot and cold distribution manifolds, which in turn supplied all outlets in a ring fashion, eliminating the risk of possible infection from stagnant water in dead-legs. The high efficiency boilers had state of the art weather compensators. "Our children can play anywhere on the floor comfortably and safely, without the risk of burning themselves on hot radiators," said the matron.

College atrium can only be heated properly wih Pexatherm UFH
How do you heat such a large glazed area? The Welsh County engineers new the answer and called IPPEC to design the underfloor heating system. Weather compensation and high pipe density ensures quick response time for weather changes and solar gains.
The Pexatherm UFH pipe in staple system ensures constant temperature profile throughtout the space. This avoids high temperature near the partiially glazed ceiling and therefore reduce heat losses from the roof. Pexatherm radiant UFH saves energy whichever way you look ar it.

Pexatherm Pipe in Rail is in the Mail
The Mailbox building in the city of Birmingham saw a major transformation from the old post office building to a spectacular complex of shops, restaurants and luxurious apartments. Pexatherm pipe in rail was used in the main entrance foyer. It was only heating solution for the light and airy reception areas.

Pexatherm systems can be used with all types of floor construction. Many consultants specify affordable Pexatherm UFH systems in the knowledge that it will perform without causing damage to the sprung floors.

Reception areas are free from radiator limitations
Pexatherm UFH systems have been used in many reception areas with tall ceilings in all types of public and commercial buildings.

Comfort with Hygiene
Whether it is a hospital (left) in the north west or a school (right) IPPEC's expertees is in evidence. The Pexatherm UFH system keeps the wards and the classrooms pleasantly warm. There are no hygiene issue here. No radiators to cluter walls and to clean. Just wipe the the warm floor to keep the heating system clean too.
