IPPEC says that heating the dream conservatory
is often neglected. The problems resulting from this neglect could
be difficult and expensive to put right later. Highlighting the
problems, and giving the information beforehand would help customers
and suppliers.
The Problem
Most people's image of
a conservatory is of a warm, light room on a cold sunny day. Pictures
in magazines and suppliers' brochures portray this ideal image.
The reality is quite different. How many days are there in the year
when such an idyllic climate occurs? What is it like in the conservatory
on cold and cloudy days, in the evening and early morning? Do you
have to keep the door shut between conservatory and the rest of
the house when it is too cold or too hot? What about problems of
condensation on glass, frame and floor? None of these practical
matters are mentioned in brochures. To remedy the situation after
the conservatory has been completed is expensive and impractical.
Thus the most expensive room in the house could turn out to be little
used and costly to maintain. The Solution For the conservatory to
be used all year round and to be a true extension of a modern home,
it must be heated. Radiators, besides being unsightly in such
a setting, heat the air to a high temperature which then rises and
its heat is rapidly lost through the glazed roof and walls. Air
at high temperatures absorbs moisture which is then deposited on
cold surfaces such as tiled floors and glazed walls. The air temperature
drops rapidly as soon as the radiator is switched off, causing large
fluctuations in temperature which makes the environment unsuitable
for greenhouse plants.
Pexatherm warm water floor central heating radiates low temperature
heat, reducing both the amount of hot air near the ceiling and cold
draughts near the floor. The radiant heat from the floor keeps tiled
floors warm and dry and reduces condensation by keeping the average
air temperature low and the structure warm. With floor central heating,
the temperature in the conservatory is constant due to the fact
that the floor acts as a storage heater. The warm environment with
natural humidity is ideal for indoor plants as well as for the comfort
of human beings. Pexatherm floor central heating frees the walls
from any obstruction, and being a 'wet system' it integrates with
the existing central heating of the house..

Valuable
Information
The general comment from people who did not install floor central
heating in their conservatories has been "If only we knew about
it." Owners are upset to learn that for a few hundred pounds they
could have installed the mostsuitable and energy efficient heating
system in their conservatory, and they are now missing all the above
- mentioned benefits. It is therefore necessary to research the
heating of your conservatory project before building work starts.
More and more suppliers , builders merchants and plumbers are becoming
aware of alternative heating systems. Above all, do not be put off
by the ignorant. It will be too late to remove those expensive tiles
later on. Hopefully you will be using the conservatory all year
round and long after the builder has left.

Conservatories
are excellent candidates for Pexatherm UFH when used all year round
and as part of the living space.
In
an effort to remedy this situation IPPEC has contacted all major
conservatory suppliers and is offering a free design quotation and
advice service on their Pexatherm system. Complete heating packages
to suit various sizes of conservatory can be easily and quickly
installed at the 'first fix' stage.

Pexatherm underfloor
heating is a 'wet system' and therefore it can be connected to the
existing central heating system in the rest of the building. The
new Ippec's pre-assembled manifold will be ideal in this installation.
The temperature can be seperately controlled to suit your living
requirement. Visit our online
shop to view conservatory packages or send your drawings for
a free estimate. Free design service is available with each project.
The conservatory
is part of the living space. It could be an extension to the lounge,
morning room or kitchen. A curtain is all that is needed to seperate
it from the rest of the house when Pexatherm floor heating is used.
Dry tiled floors avoid slipping and keep the rest of the house clean.

A high density of pipe is required in the conservatory due to the
heat loss from glazed walls and ceiling.
